Pushing Dulli

First off I want to confirm that I am not getting paid to promote this obscure album, but now is the time to push Greg Dulli's new album, Amber Headlights. This is a completely biased opinion, especially due to the fact that this album is not yet out but this is going to be one of the few albums worth our cash this year. No one ever said objectivity was my strong suit and I think it is an overrated trait anyway.

If you are not familiar with Greg Dulli or his bands you can get a quick re-cap of the current one, The Twilight Singers here. If you are too lazy to read the link know that his first band was the fantastically underrated Afghan Whigs, which was followed with subtle brilliance by The Twilight Singers and now he has his first solo album coming out.

Greg Dulli always offers a honest and overly dramatic performance which reminds me of the O'Jays + Stevie Wonder + Jay-Z with some simple hard rock thrown in for good measures. Sounds like a strange mix but that is why some folks have called him the "Ohio's whisky-bar Motown rocker" and he seems to pull it off everytime. If you are looking to get into him for the first time you might want to start with the Afghan Whigs album Black Love which still remains my all time favorite album.
