Life in the Dohyō

As you know from previous posts I not only read but enjoy children's books (Simple but Brilliant, October 2005) and get a kick out of finding hidden gems for my daughter. As you also might know I do love all things Sumo (Mongolian Menace, September 2005) so you can imagine that it would be a truly unique opportunity to combine these two interests. And now I can with...

This book follows the super hero like antics of Sumo Boy as he rushes to save a young girl. Besides his kick-ass battle cry of "DOSUKOI" and unique Sumo talents (i.e. Open hand push, Inside leg trip and Over-arm throw) this is a great story with fantastic illustrations.

The highlight for me though (Not giving away any of the story) is the Sumo glossary in the back of the book with some detailed illustrations to go along with it. Also seeing my daughter rock side to side saying "Sumo, Sumo" for a half hour is pretty tough to beat as well.
