This is really going to fucking date me but let me say that
Queensryche's new album, Operation Mindcrime II is a really, really good album. Clearly it is their best since 1990's Empire although that is not saying too much and that is precisely why I did not start this off on that note. Although the title is as meathead as it gets it is relevant as the music and the lyrics are almost back to when Operation Mindcrime first came out and when the Ryche was at their best (Or at least tied with Rage For Order). I would highly suggest picking up this album if you are or were ever a fan of theirs as it is well worth it. On a side note it is also nice to hear the Geoff Tate/Ronnie James Dio collaboration.
Beside finally getting a good album from these guys my true hope is that this will get other metal bands a)signed or b) shock them out of their comas and back into doing what they do best. Too many metal bands let Nirvana kill them off or tried to modernize their sound (Hello Metallica/Bob Rock) to fit into today's culture and this is/was clearly a huge mistake. The bottom line is that if you make a good album it will sell to those who have never heard of you and/or fans who bought your first albums.
My next great hope is to see Metallica get back on the saddle and record Master of Puppets II with Sir Rubin now at the helm.
