Why?

So what the hell does this conversation go like between Axl Rose and James Gandolfini. Do you think they just discuss what each other does during their long layoffs? Do you think James will be on Chinese Democracy and doing what exactly? Am I starting to strictly blog about Metal?

Could it be I am already missing Tom Delay and his zany antics? Who am I asking questions to?

Thanks for identifying Mr. Rose. I never would've recognized him otherwise.

Maybe he's going to make a guest appearance on The Sopranos...insert your own "Spaghetti Incident" joke here.

PS - So, Guns N Roses is "metal" by your definition? I'm still trying to nail that one down. I think consensus would say Black Sabbath is "metal". They basically defined it (although, yes, it was born out of heavy rock). However, to say AC/DC is metal, but KISS is not...I'd say you're just selectively excluding what you don't like, particularly if you're including factors like "lifestyle" and/or stage presence/theatrics (or even just Gene Simmons' genius for Self-Promotion/Public Relations).

Bon Scott's leering, jeering, near-riot-inciting stage persona can be easily seen as having been adopted by Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols. I don't think that retroactively makes AC/DC a "punk" band. It just makes them an influence.

But, no biggie. I'm not a huge fan of categorizing music anyway. It seems somehow limiting. Plus, when I finish typing this I'm going to have to go to work...which sucks. That probably explains the longwindedness. Sorry.

I like the stated reason for the longwindedness. I can see how I am being selective for my own reasons but Kiss to me is strictly glam (and a little pop) and glam is not metal in any way.

All that said, let me state here: I have a HUGE record & CD collection, and I own absolutely NOTHING by Kiss (though I've heard more than my share over the years). I own quite a bit of AC/DC. So, regardless of categorization, my opinion is that AC/DC is absolutely, shite-stompingly good. Kiss...blah.

I would agree 100% with that call. Very few things beat any Ac/DC album as well especially a great one.
