Yes, Ann & Matt's dog, Mr. B. won the 1st Oscar Pool on a tiebreaker (damn you Forrest for the traditional look!). His knowledge was very deep and uncanny at times and he was very consistent in getting 15 of 24 categories correct. The amount won for the top three are listed below and we will get this sent out right away (However, most of you still need to pay up so get that in when you can).

1st Place - $93.75
2nd Place - $25.00
3rd Place - $6.25

In addition, beside our first ever winner being a dog our first ever Ultimate Loser is John R. His score was 10 off the next lowest score and he got a total of 5 categories correct. John...your entry will be on us next year as this is as impressive as any dog winning.

I will try to post some more fun facts up here including highest category percentages, etc. over the next few days so check back if you can. Thanks again for doing this as we look forward to doing it again next year.

Yes, a dog living in Santa Monica has won our Oscar Pool. A very savvy LA dog that is beat me over a bow tie. Sweet irony.

I will have more detailed information on this tomorrow and welcome any comments. Hope everyone had some fun watching this tonight as well and please check back tomorrow for more info.

More + More + More Updates

WOW. This is going to throw the scores around wuite a bit. I will post the scores within the next 30-45 as unoffical and then fianliuze tomorrow morning as I have one sitting on a fax machine at the office that I cannot add in until tomorrow.

More + More Updates

Almost everyone but 2 people had Helen Mirren so the scores are virtually the same with the same leaders. Losts of people within strinking distance though with less than 5 people really out of it.

More Updates

No Change in the leaders and no changes in their scores. Film Editing was a rough one for most of us (Lots of Babel votes) but kudos to those of you who picked The Departed.

Can you beleive a dog is going to win this thing? I mean Mr. B and not me by the way.

Updates

Sorry for the dealys but updates are taking forever as I am doing them by hand as I did not finish my spreadsheet in time. Quick rundown on the top three right now prior to john Travolta and Queen Latifah presenting--

Joseph Marlovits - 34
Mr. B - 34 ( This is Ann & Matt's Dog in Los Angeles)
Lindsay Marlovits - 31

Red Carpet Time

Well after all the emails and funny banter we are finally here...Oscar Day. Right now we are at 24 entries with an outside shot of getting to 27 prior to the ceremony. If you are reading this (doubtful) and have yet to submit your picks (even more doubtful) please do so (very, very doubtful). Based on this we have $120 in the pot for the following breakdown--

1st - $90.00
2nd - $24.00
3rd - $6.00

Not too bad for our first year and I am confident that we can expand on this next year as long as I do not botch anything tonight.

Please note that I will posting scores here every few awards and will list the top 5-10 in total scoring. if you have any questions during the awards please call us, email me or post something here and I will follow up with you right away.

Thanks again for your participation and good luck tonight.

Oscar Update Pt. 4

We are getting really close. I can almost close my eyes and have Joan Rivers nightmares. And do not get me started on Melissa Rivers. Please make sure you get us your entry forms as we are still missing a few and I would like to have these by Saturday night so I can pull the spreadsheet together.

Hope you also like the new digs and that a few of you come back to the Morning Star after the Oscars. You can always comment at the bottom of any post and please feel free to be as dis-respectable as you would like to be. After the Oscars the posting will get a little more aggressive for reference as the PG rating gives way for a solid R.
