Books For All

My brain has slowly simmered in a pot for about 3 days now and I am not prepared to dish out the soup quite yet so in the meantime a few highly recommended readings:

Saturday (Ian McEwan)--Not too suprising to see this on any list but it is not overrated. It is beautifully written and better yet tells a great story.

The Pacific and Other Stories (Mark Helprin)--Fantastic collection of short stories from a writer who is at the top of his game. Also check out A Dove of the East if you get a chance.

True North (Jim Harrison)--I am a sucker for outdoor based books so maybe I am missing the faults in this read. However the characters are as deep as you can imagine and the ooze they leave behind is glorious.

I could go on and on regarding this topic but I believe I am going to hold some of that ammo back for the lighter days to come.

One closing thought; before you read any of the above books I would suggest my favorite American Book by my favorite author--Martin Eden by Jack London.
