Steroids In Baseball?

You have to love Rafael Palmiero (www.espn.com). I love the idea of getting up in front of congress (waste of time 101), taking an oath and then lying for about 30 minutes especially when your name is not Karl Rove. You have to love the following progression of comments especially for using the word "intentionally" and "knowingly":

  • March 2005--"I have never used steroids. Period"
  • August 2005--"When I testified in front of Congress, I know that I was testifying under oath and I told the truth. Today I am telling the truth again that I did not do this intentionally or knowingly."

I also love the next statement--"Why would I do this in a year when I went in front of Congress and I testified and I told the truth? "Why would I do this during a season where I was going to get to 3,000 hits? It just makes no sense. I'm not a crazy person"

That is some brilliantt spin work. How could I ever do steroids when everything was so good? You know that would be just stupid so I would never do that....right?

I think the only person truly happy about this is Barry Bonds. He is sitting there thinking that the BALCO scare passed him by and now all the heat is on Rafael. Nice call on sitting out 2005 Barry, you chickenshit.

I also cannot believe that people are asking about Anabolic Rafael and the Hall of Fame. No way should he get into the HOF and sure as hell not before Ron Santo.
