Banner + Another Banner = Victory

I know most of the time my life feels like something out of Groundhog Day but this is a fucking ridiculous. The above photo is of President Bush delivering a speech regarding the war on terror (Surprise) in Wheeling, West Virginia, March 22, 2006. I brought up this whole idiotic banner issue back on 11/30/2005 (Banner = Victory) and you would think that since his approval ratings have dipped over 15% since then someone would have thought of a new fucking idea.

Is Rove just brain dead or is he phoning these last two years in? Does Bush even realize that this same concept and overall sales pitch is not working? Will he ever grasp that he needs a new pitch as the change-up is no longer good enough to fool us?

You are soooooo correct on the banner thing. It's ridiculous beyond description. It seems so transparent that I, too, wonder if Rove is "phoning it in". But, then, I wonder if maybe it's just that a disturbing number of American voters fall into one of 3 categories:

1) Republican diehards, disengaged from reality, and certain to vote GOP regardless
2) So stupid that ridiculous slogans, taglines, and/or catch-phrases such as "Plan For Victory" actually resonate
3) Single-issue voters (usually "pro-life" or anti-"gun control") that align with Republican candidates

Sure, Bush's approval ratings are lower than (insert something low here - e.g., whale shit). But, will it matter by the time elections are held in 2006, and more importantly in 2008?
