2 weeks away from the Bureau, 3 hotels in 3 days and one red-eye (albeit short) flight have left me a bit ragged but I am back. On the throws of an all night web catch up session I have run across a metal band worth mentioning. Check out Wolfmother if you are into classic metal that circulates around Sabbath and AC/DC and most other 70's inspired rock/metal. If it is not your thing sorry, but my roots are in metal and not the bullshit that just hides under the metal-umbrella such as Emo and Alternative Metal (That means you White Stripes).

Metal Matters

Not to split hairs, but...Is AC/DC "heavy metal"? They are rock solid to be sure. But, I've never considered them "heavy metal", just hard rockers. Like I said though, it's probably splitting hairs, as I'm sure AC/DC was a huge influence on many "heavy metal" acts. Of course, I don't believe AC/DC ever really sang about really dark, gothic sh-t (Black Sabbath set that trend), wore make-up (KISS's contribution to heavy metal infancy), or even teased-up their hair (every remotely metal act in the '80s). Hell, AC/DC didn't even have the good sense to do any sappy love ballads!!! And, yet, they've outsold them all (combined). Hard rock triumphs!!!
I would agree with you in general but my defintion of metal would exclude Kiss. I think Sabbath is the exact definition of what metal is and for the most part they were just an extended form of rock and that is where I would put AC/DC as well. My definition is also influenced by other factors including lifestyle and in that sense AC/DC sets a standard...God Bless Bon.
